Thursday Morning and Feeling Good

Just a quick note. My treatment went okay yesterday. Better than #1, I think. I feel much less groggy and foggy headed this time. I think they eased off on some of the benadryl (which they say they have to give me because people have allergic reactions to avastin).

So I came home and laid on the couch and watched TV. Michael fed me (more on him later). (He's snoring in the other room right now). Wendy came over and gave me an eye rub (something they're giving me makes my eyes feel like they're bugging out of my head for the first day....probably the avastin), and watched LOST (which she hates for its violence and tedious plot). (By the way, if any of you understand WHAT ON EARTH the conclusion of LOST was about last night, please clue me in). Then, after Wendy left, I took my special anti-nausea drug and laid on the couch somemore and then went to bed.

And today I feel pretty good, so far. I always feel best in the mornings. I think I might try to go back to sleep for a bit longer just to be safe.

Hi Chet,
I'm glad the 2nd treatment went well and the you felt better immediately afterward. The shrinking navel lesion is a great sign that the chemo is working. There was an interesting article in the N.Y. Times the other day about anti-nausea drugs. I saved it for you. I enjoyed your company at that yummy Indian restaurant last weekend. You were in good spirits and we all had a lot of laughs.
Love,
Gregg

Hi Chet,
Among your many accomplishments, you can now list "Got old Professor Harris" introduced to blogging. Will it go on a resume? Maybe not,but for a phone phobic like me, this really is neat. I'll now check in regularly to hear how you are doing. Duncan and I will be driving up to jackson this afternoon. We'll wave at Rawlins as we speed by.
Love from us both,
Janice and Duncan

hey. how's day four going (aka as the first full day post-infusion)? at what point in a folfiri and avastin treatment are you able to say "ok, i definitely feel better today. i think this one is behind me."? i hope you're feeling good and that your weekend is off to a great start. (p.s. after wendy's post stating that 'lost' is the stupidest show ever, i feel less out of the loop about possibly being the only person who has never seen it. lol) tom

Okay, LOST is NOT stupid. It has everything: romance, intrigue, science fiction and, yes Wendy, violence. What else is there on Prime Time that offers all of that?

Oh yeah -- Project Runway.

Well, Tom, to answer your question, I usually get over the Folfiri hangover around Sunday (just like last time, really). BUT, now they give me a $6000 shot called Neulasta. This shot boosts my white count, which makes me feel like I have the flu until Tuesday, but then by Wednesday, I feel as energetic as a 5 year old.

Neulasta is liquid gold. If it didn't make me feel so good I'd pocket the syringes and sell it on the streets.

I would!

Also, I have to say that I'm thrilled that I dragged Duncan and Janice Harris into the blogosphere. (Though something tells me they're not exactly newbies).

Thanks for the wonderful books, Duncan and Janice. See you at xmas.
